New salvia plants dropping leaves
    #5899069 - 07/25/06 06:25 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

I just got two salvia plants a week ago. They seem to be ok, but not great. They have dropped several green leaves while Im spraying them with water and inspecting for bugs. The stem of the leaves seem really rigid and susceptible to snapping at the point where they meet the main stem. At first I thought this may have been from a draft indoors so I moved them out. After one day outside a lot of leaves curled down and a couple more fell off. I dont know what to do and I dont wanna see them go naked. A naked salvia plant is a sad stem... Any tips would be appreciated. On a higher note, both plants have young shoots which seem to be progressing well.

somethin sounds off, my plants are infested with alphids and there stems wouldn't break like that....not untill i sprayed them with soapy water and they havn't been the same since.

you need to really watch your watering, i get the feeling you MIGHT** be under watering them...usually the leafs drop and droop when there thursty, after watering them within hours they are purky....so if they purk up when you water then give em a little more because you prob not givin em enough.

as for a naked saliva plant i had a great post with pictures.

saliva i don't think like much change...taking them indoors and outdoors is not good, pick a place and leave them. by the way what do you have for lighting on the indoors part??
