Just bought my own Salvia plant!

Several hours ago I picked up my first Salvia plant, it's just a little baby thing, but beautiful! It'll be my first home-grown entheogen.
Wish me luck with it.
Any tips? I've been reading up on the best techniques at sage wisdom, so I think I've got a decent idea of what it needs. Now is just finding out I suppose!

I absolutely will give my friends cuttings. I'm hoping she's a reasonable enough size to make at least one cutting by mid-January so that I can give one to my boyfriend for his birthday. I can't wait to spread the love! I keep peaking over my shoulder to admire her. She needs to be repotted tommorrow, she's starting to get rootbound in her little baby pot and could definitly use some room to stretch. Also, I'll pick up some fertilizer (any recommendations?) to give her a boost. I'm also gonna go get my full spectrum light bulb from my mom's place so that when we get into the darkness of winter she'll still be somewhat happy. Thanks for the link Xochitl. I'll check it out immediately. *grins hugely at her lovely new companion*

i was to say, a good idea for cuttings is just to twist the 'suckers' (new stems), and to root them. you'll have then your mother plant in optimum growth and backup/friends cuttings... =)
for repotting be very careful to stress its roots the least possible! if you do that, she won't even notice she has been transplanted. now if you mess with her roots she might suffer for a while before recovering (don't water a lot her if she gets droopy).
besides that, you're in good hands with SE's info. good growing!

You are lucky. I don't think there is a single salvia plant in this country (and it would cost thousands to get a permit to import one)

zeta, what country is that? The only country I can think of where Salvia divinorum is declared illegal is Australia.

Hmm, I guess I'm saying everybody is lucky except us because we must be one of the few countries in the world with no salvia. Biosecurity here is too strict I guess (New Zealand)

I'd trade the availability of salvia to leave this pisshole of a country (US) to live in New Zealand, any day.
