salvia plant needs help!
    #1371774 - 03/13/03 08:03 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I just recieved a rooted salvia divinorum plant in the mail, and it's in rough condition.  It looks as if it's almost entirely dead :frown:  All the leaves are wilted, and more than half of them have fallen off, and the whole plant has gone purple/black.

So what should I do?  Should I just plant her in a pot, and cover it with a plastic bag (for humidity), and hope for the best?  Should I use some fertilizer?

Man thats tough. Usually when the leaves fall off its no big deal because they grow back. ( I've had plants drop leaves from getting too cold, but they survived )
Now, when the stem starts turning dark, you might be in trouble. Just do what you said and hope for the best, and don't fertilize it until it recovers! Was the plant dark like that when you got it? If it was, I'd send it back and bitch about it because they shouldn't look like that, either that or maybe it sat in the mail truck too long.
edit for spelling

yea, it just arrived in the mail this morning...
I won it from a contest... and it spent 7 days in the mail... which is probably why it's in such bad shape :frown:

I'm planting it now, hopefully she pulls through!

yeah, just plant it and don't use extra fertilizer. also don't overwater! Salvia can handle a lot so I hope she survives, good luck

Thanks for your replies   As a sidenote, would it be ok to chew on the leaves that have fallen off, even though they're all purple/black?

I wouldn't, but as long as they're purple black from lack of sunlight and are not moist and rotting then yeah, if they're moist and rotting then i wouldn't..
