2 days ago it was mearly a bulge in the callous. once they start pupping they grow fast.
wish there was one or two more, but that one areole was just a little too high up i suppose.
any tips of stimulating more pups?
I am repotting soon into a much larger pot with organic compost, concrete rubble, sand, and crushed clay with cactus soil.

once my other cutting starts to root they will both go into the big pot together.
this cutting REALLY fattened up after i cut off the tip, you can see how the callous surface is disproportunate to the thickness of the trunk.

I think you,ll have more, start on that nice mother without doing anything.
I dont know know if this has anything to do, with mine. But I like to give mine Peru seabird guano, bat guano, worm castings, and a few drops of Superthrive, in limited quantity.

that is similar to how my pedro did...the first year it put off one pup on the top, i let it grow to about 9 inches, and took it as a cutting for a fellow shroomery member. The next year, another one started on top, which is now about a 2 ft tall pup, lol. The next year, which is that start of this year, it got two pups at the base, didn't know they were there untill they were two inches tall, as they started beneath the soil level, and each of those are 9-11" already, this year alone, my cactus has prolly alread grown 2 ft including all the arms, and still has another 2 or 3 to grow by the end of the year

the one i speak of is the one on the left

I have noticed that 2-3 pups a year per mother is pretty easy. They seem to come in a stagger every month or 2 during the summer. Or at least with mine.
The pup here is a month old. See the next 2 starting now?

managed to get my cutting to root, AND i got me a nice new little pup peeking out.
I got a HUGE pot for them and filled it with gravel, sand, broken clay pots, cactus soil, and organic compost.
the cutting sprouted roots RIGHT through the callous. figured they root from the side, guess its all good oh and dont worry about the mother having that light color and spots. She ALWAYS looks that way at night, in the day she goes dark green

you cant tell from the pic, but that mother is about the size of a football, and harder than a watermellon shell. they sure like the organic fert. (composted cow manure) and rubble (crushed cement)
