Salvia D Clone is dieing!

I received a salvia clone in the mail about one week ago, and I immediately planted it in some scott's potting soil in a clay pot. I kept it inside to let it root in the mild climate of my apartment. I had a glass jar that acted as a humidity tent for it. However, it seems that was a bad thing because the leaves started drooping and turning brown, as did the stem. Then what looked like cobweb mold began growing around the base, so I put it outside on my shaded porch yesterday morning. Now the whole thing has fallen over and looks lifeless.
Please help!

A jar is not a good humidity tent (there should be lots of room). Your plant needs FAE. Unless you live somewhere very aired, you don't need a tent. A mist every now and again will do fine. The sage will acclimate pretty easy.
How tall is the cutting? How many leaves does it have? A pic would help

Yea, ditch the jar. Dont even bother with a humidity tent unless you live a very dry area.
Did the cutting have roots when you recieved it?
Also make sure to have some sort of drainage for the pot. Sally seems to really dislike having 'wet feet' all the time.

sounds to me like your cutting most likely is lost to rot if the stem is rotting at the base, unless you have a tall cutting which you can cut off the rot I dont see any easy solution for this.but yes a picture would help

Yeah, the sally had a nice root structure when it was sent to him

ok so it's definitely fubard. I am taking a long shot and cutting the stem right above where the brown/dry area ends and setting it in a shot glass full of water, hopefully it will grow roots again.

This plant definitely hated the outside... even on my shaded porch.
I live in FL so the humidity is up there at all times. The temps are as well though.. If it grows roots I'm gonna be a happy camper. Otherwise, damn waste of 20 bucks
