Sensing spirits?

I used to be really big into ghosts and the paranormal until a tragic event took place in my life a few years back.  I was 17 and in my senior year of high school.  I'm working one night and all of a sudden my brother pops into the grill area.  "You gotta come home...mom's...dead."

Yup just like that, just talked to her not more than 4 hours prior.  She suffered from Fibromyalgia, and her plethora of pills turned on her I guess.  I didn't think I'd be saying bye to mom that soon but there she was in her bed- cold, silent, pale, motionless.

Well she was REALLY big into ghosts..a firm believer and supporter of all the John Edwards "crossing over" hype.  She always said that if she died she'd try to contact me somehow.  3 years and nothing.  No signs, nothing really out of the ordinary.  Sometimes there's a ringing phone with nobody there and sometimes a light goes out but it's nothing like, "Hey here I am I'm fine." 


I do however get that feeling that someone's in the room.  You know when you get that sensation around your body that someone enters the room...almost like you can hear the air change?  I get that a lot in my room when I'm alone but I don't know what to do to further the experience.  If it IS her, is there any means of communication possible? 

I'm really in the dark about the spirit world so any words of enlightenment would do me greatly.  :frown:

What i believe is that souls that now live in another plane of reality, usually don't show themselves in ethereal or physical form that easily. Probably, when and if you need comfort or serious help, she will be there for you. Even if you ear nothing, or see nothing, you'll know and you'll feel there's something else. Listen to your heart, there's no need for words, just listen to it ...

If you want an esoteric approach to the subject, then you could try an ouija board. Read about it first and try finding experienced people to perform a session.

If your mother is still trying to contact you or tell you something I recommend trying hard to pay attention so that she can move on. Try some meditation and just feel for her presence, let her communicate what she is trying to and let her go.

Don't try and communicate with the dead, let them rest. Respect the love she had for you in life, pray that it stays with you till the end of yours.

I have a house where the previous owner died. He was invalid and couldn't walk in life and maybe his spirit didn't know it could leave. I used to feel his presence there but there have been no physical signs. Now I don't feel his presence.

Did his spirit leave or was it even ever there or just my imagination from my knowing the circumstances? I don't have a clue.

The next time you get that feeling, stop whatever you are doing, close your eyes and try to concentrate on feeling completely open and unguarded. If it is her spirit trying to make contact with you, being in a completely open and ready state should make it easier for both of you.

The weird thing is, right after I wrote that post I went into the Pub and took some pics for the Hot ot Not thread in my room. One of them came out with one of those creepy ghost orbs on my ceiling. I have a white drop ceiling in my room so there's no way it's flash, but I compared it to the ones I googled pics of and it's strikingly similar. It even looks like it's moving, as there's orbs all in a squiggly line.

Creepy to me means cool in a strange way.  It's definitely cool, jumped my heart a little bit when I saw it, even more so when I looked at other pictures, but it's pretty damn awesome.  I just hope she wasn't there during my last game of pocket pool :grin:

something like that... the problem is if you're concentrating on being open and 'unguarded' and its not who you think it is, you could have a whole 'nother knot to untie.
be open to precieving what you feel around you yes, but ask the felt energy questions. be guarded until you feel love or compassion that prompts you otherwise. ask that if its not there for love or guidance, then you'd like it to please leave. you have unseen guardians who will help you with the process.

as far as not getting any messages, you may not be ready yet for such a message, tho the ringing phone does seem slightly ominous.
one of the easiest meeting places for deceased is dreams. its a much more stable environment for doing so. Conscious Dreaming by Robert Moss has some interesting things on dreams as communication mediums.

also, this is getting kind of specific in to my own beliefs & experiences, but from what understand (coming from more of a Tibetan philosophy of things), communication with the living is a VERY difficult task. keep in mind that their time is different than ours, but to communicate immediately would probably take some sort of psychic skill, unless the message was something of dire importance (say, to warn you of danger). the idea is that spirit must first ascend and take its afterlife journey, and then it can return with a message of success or love or w/e that may be. if your mother was hard-pressed to get a message to you, she may in fact be worried more about that than what really needs to be done. allow her the freedom of that choice. look to her in your mind with all love and compassion and grace she allowed you in life, and tell her that its ok to go. and that if she's back with a message, that would be great. but personally i think the important thing is making sure she knows that she can be free of that responsibility.

but i'd say look to your dreams. spend some time learning about what can be done. if youre lucid dreaming, dream phones or televisions can work well for 'channeling' messages. and when its time, you'll get it. you and your mother obviously loved eachother. she wouldn't abandon you.

btw, i am sorry. your experience must have been hard.

Every time I dream about her I'm mad she's alive and I want her dead. I don't get it. I mean we were at each other's throats a lot but we still had a connection and I feel if she were to pop into my world right now I'd have a LONG LONG talk with her about things I wasn't aware of when I was a 17 year old hater of the world.
