A Death Mask

So this is a mask i made recently. It made from Porcelain, wire and pig intestine. It was made for the sake of 2 performances, where in one i danced in a circle of salt and 12 candles with a beaver skull in one my right hand and a fox skull in my left. In the second performance i took hold of a really deviant side to the mask and ran around my peers high laughing with a hunched running pose to make use of looking like a wild animal when i put it on. now it sits above my drum setting to mood when i play.
"This mask is made for wearing. O yes, you can wear it too-incessantly in fact...once mobil, a car full of choices arise. Death is dependable, just like the sun is a canoe of our faith; Chalky passionate power within, strengthened by the roles in death play. Where else would I be the face of expearence?? HEE-iii"

Very cool mask. I like the style, very reminiscent of native american decorative clothing.

yes, native american, exactly where i started off my frame of reference. i was looking at headdresses and how symbolically an eagle feather was a sign of counting coup which is something like a sport to native american tradition where in battle instead of killing your enemy you braze them with a staff or club as a way to show dominance and agility. So when you count coup on some one you receive an eagle feather to show your accomplishments; I suppose the idea of that war game had a part to play in this mask.

I really like that.I like the bottom peice that is covering the mouth of the skull and dropping down into a cresent type shape.
How long from top to bottom is the mask?Where would a person find flat sheats of pig instestine for use in this sort of thing?

it's really weird you say that, because right before I posted what I said, I was having a conversation with my friend about that tradition - how native american warriors would take their enemy's feathers instead of killing them.

Then it seems we had an Ahhh moment Ashland~ and there certainly seems to be a relationship between the scrutinizing light of mortal awareness, a game where your task is not to kill but to test awareness- this also reminds me of my middle school Zen like Latin teacher who would slap the table or chalkboard with a wooden pointer when we were asleep in class or are being to too rambunctious.
so far as the mask is concerned, i am deeply honored you would consider my mask inspiring. I hope to share more of my work with this positive community here, and thank you.
The mask is about 2 feet in length and 11" wide, so you can definitely wear it. Pig intestine can be found at almost any deli, it's just sausage casing and it sticks to itself so you don't need any glue to do what I did here.
Also, if you don't mind sharing, I would love to hear the first word that comes to mind when you look at this mask.
