I have a recommendation for you all:

Emperor - Anthems to the welkin at dusk
this is just an amazing album, on of the better blackmetal albums around. It's fast, technical, complex, really well produced, great songs. They use synths in away that adds a lot of athmosphere to the music. overall: a must have!

Covenant - Nexus polaris
Anohter amazing album, also blackmetal but a whole different style, also technical and very melodic and just beautifull in combination with the synths and the female singer they use.

yeah, Cephalic Carnage is where its at. John Merriment is a machine. He played some death/black metal tracks for Secret Chiefs 3. Also, one of my favorite metal groups which are also funny as shit is "Supreme Dispassion" . They made one album and broke up, but it was sludged out death metal. The album was titled "Pray that you do not shit blood" which was also a song and the art work on the cover. My friend now has formed a new band with Gabriel Todd (sp) which is called "Beast Rising out of the Sea".
