FLA: A Couple types of Amanita Mushrooms Photographed during todays Mushroom Hunt.
    #5789352 - 06/25/06 12:49 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Well we checked out a new hunting spot today, hoping to finds some edibles.
All we really saw were Amanita's.

It was a mixed forest of Oaks and Pines.

I'm unsure of the exact Identity of these two mushroom species.

This first one kind of resembles Amanita gemmata: ?

And a second species of somewhat large (and possibly very poisonous) Amanita mushrooms:

That's all for today.

If anyone wants to take a stab at identifying these Amanita's be my guest.

They were found under Oak and Pine trees, and I assume that they have white spore prints.

Nice specimens. And, of course, great photos.

The first one resembles A. crennulata. Do they have a partial veil? I can't see one in the expanded specimen, and can't tell from the others.

The other looks to be one of the various all white species from the Phalloidae. Without a microscope there's no good way to tell which. Tulloss' site has a good key to these, but you have to use a microscope to get anywhere.

Happy mushrooming!
