Infant Recovering After Eating LSD-Laced Candy

A three-year-old is hospitalized after eating candy, but this batch was meant for adults. It was laced with LSD.

Wednesday, his mother is charged with endangering her child. The boy is recovering recovering at Brackenridge Hospital.

The mother, Ashli Freas, was arrested for endangering a child. She told police her boy got a hold of the LSD-laced Sweet Tarts at an acquaintance's home in Austin.

Police say she drove back to her apartment in Cedar Park waited for about an hour before friends called 911. Freas said she claims she did not know the people at the house were into drugs and would never put her child in danger.

Her neighbors say that's just inexcusable.

Authorities say this case is far from over. KXAN will bring you more information as the story develops.

I think kids are constantly tripping anyway, so this kid probably just acted a little more hyper than usual....no big deal.

i feel sorry for her... she's gonna get shit from everyone for something that probably didnt effect her son all that much (i doubt a three year old would make a big deal out of such an incedent, you can just tell him he was a little "sick" and now he's all better case closed (i may be wrong but i doubt he was really hurt in any way. and even if he was taking away his mom would make his life 1000 times worse )

very sad indeed!

So what if the mom knew these people were into drugs? Just because some of their friends may take LSD occasionally they can't bring their child over to their house when they visit?

It's the fault of the people who left LSD laced sweet tarts lying around where a baby could get them, when a baby is coming over to visit,.... I see no fault in the mother of this child. She did the right thing by calling the hospital.

It's bullshit that she's being charged. It's a pretty bad accident but everything turned out allright.... so let's put someone in jail! fuck that
