Little baby cacti

My peyote seeds have given birth to little tiny baby peyotes. About 2 ml in diameter. There was twenty seeds and about half have sprouted so far. I'm well happy. Actually, just happy, "well happy" will be in a few years time when i eat them, or rather blend them up in cocoa and drink them.
And my first attempt at casing is flushing like fuck. I cased two BRF cakes in organic bark and peat compost with vermiculite, and there's over fifty shrooms growing out of this little 6 inch pot. No aborts yet either. Guess i'm going to get a little trippy this week.
I cased another four cakes in the same stuff in a ten inch pot a few days after and that's just starting to pin. I'm looking forward to this monster giving birth.
Apart from that my life's shit. But we can't have everything now can we?

I just put them under some flouros as it's a bit too dark and cold on the window sill.
Anyone grow peyote under lights? I was thinking about MH lights but the guy want ?90 for a 250W (i can't afford it this month). I got a couple of flouros instead for ?10. I'm thinking i might need a couple more though. Any thoughts?

Flouros are fine but I can't figure out why you posted this in here instead of the Ethnobotanical Garden. You should see the pics they have of Peyote down there! Awesome!
You know that Peyote is a shade plant, right?
Check that other forum out! It seriously Rocks!

I'm not sure why i posted it here. Just felt like a nice place to share it.
I'll have a look over in ethnobotanical.
What does shade plant mean for the way i treat it?

"one must be very patient if he wishes to grow peyote from seed, as it may take up to five years to obtain a plant that is 15 millimeters in diameter. At any stage, however, peyote can be readily grafted onto faster-growing rootstocks, and this usually triples or quadruples the plant's rate of growth"

I'm doing a degree course for the next six years. So i'm not even thinking about eating them until after that's finished. It's going to be my graduation present to myself.
And the idea of grafting them onto other cacti is abhorrent to me. It's like raping the poor thing. I've got to trip on these things, so i'm going to make sure they have lovely little happy lives, not have some garden centre special offers shoved up their little anuses.
I find the idea of growing these things for so long, before i can trip, absolutely wonderful. It's the longest pre trip ritual i'll have ever done, so it's bound to create some very powerful magic. Patience is an awesome weapon in the arms of a Wizard. Watch out world!

They should do fine under flouros but I sunburned mine on a windowsill.
I would stay away from Halide.
There is a lot of information on growing them on the web. If you have any other questions about them post it in the Graden forum and either I or someone else can give you an answer if you cannot find it some other way.
Good Luck!
