I am heading to China here in about three months, does anyone know about mushrooms over there? where I could look for them growing natural in the wild? I will be traveling all over from Beijing to Shanghai!,I am hoping to run into a few there. I was just curious if anyone has any information on where I should look while I'm there. Thanks

China is the worlds greatest producer of cultivated mushrooms.
I spent a couple months traveling through China.
Edible (store bought) mushrooms are plentiful throughout China.
I did some mushroom hunting while i was there (of course), hoping to find Copelandia mushrooms.
I did find some non-active Shrooms. Panaeolus campanulatus, Panaeolus papilionaceus and Psilocybe coprophila.. all non-actives.
Anyways, the Chinese love mushrooms.
Be sure to visit The Forbidden City and The Great Wall while your in Beijing.
Happy travels.

China is a pretty wicked place to travel in. Kinda difficult traveling, especially if you don't speak Chinese hehe

I was almost robbed and robbed in China!!! First time I caught the thief, second time, I didn't know what hit me... Oh well.
I'm a "Foodie", as food enthusiast deem themselves. My relatives had their hands full keeping me from the street vendors... I wanted to eat EVERYTHING. Especially the funky weird stuff. Oh man, that was some fun stuff. My favourite mis-translation was on a menu. I asked what the "jelly flower" was, since the translation, now in english, was still far from familiar. After 5 minutes of confusion in trying to understand the description, I finally realized Jelly Flower = Brocolli.
Anyways. I wasn't into Mycology at the time, so I didn't take advantage of the expeditions. I was in Beijing and had no interest in sight seeing- I wanted simply to stroll through the streets and get a feeling for the cities and people- the culture. Not the ancient culture! Lordy I did not like the forbidden city, the great wall or any of the other dozen places I went. -_-
oh..oh, sorry. I just went on a bit of a tangent. sorry.
