do i need a humidity gauge

im thinking about buying a hygrometer( temp and humidity).
i know that humidity is essential for growth but do i really need a humidity gauge?
do you ppl have one, or do you just estimate by looking??

if you are doing cakes id say no. as long as there is water on the walls, you should be good. when doing cakes everyone seems to say the more RH you can get the better. casing on the other hand may be different, 95% is required for pinning and then the RH is lowered during the growth.

If you are thinking about buying a hygrometer be shure to get a digital one, not a dial gage. I use a Radio Shack unit seen here, http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=&product%5Fid=63%2D1031 as recommended by a seasoned board member. Do you need one? No, but when it comes to setting up your incubator and terrarium it helps to sort out the variables in short order as well as monitor everything once it's up and running.
