**10 gal aquarium hint**

For those who use the PF Tek recommended 10 gallon aquarium to fruit cakes or cases:

I do beleive that one would benefit from constructing a sort of lift for the cakes/casings to keep them off the bottom.
-It is on the bottom of a terrarium where that the heavier gas, CO2, lives.

Suppose one was using some perlite to humidify, by placing the cakes on this prop (say one foot above the perlite) the cakes will have more O2 available to use.

What does everyone think?

That sounds like a good idea. Mabe a small platform made from wire mesh so excess water will drain off.:)bluhoney

1 foot might be a little too high considering the size of a 10 gal aquarium. My elves like to at least stand the cakes on edge on the lid rings. Not the 1/2 pint lids but the smaller ones, this keeps the cake a bit up off the bottom and allows for easier air flow throughout when fanning.

Also, you can turn your aquarium into a MaxiPod by flipping it on it's side and by turning the lid into a 'swing door' attached by duck tape. This adaption makes air exchange a breeze as it creates better exposure of the bottom area to fresh air.

I would like to synthesize my idea (platform to keep O2 more readily available) and yours to make a MAXIPOD+PLUS+.

I will try this with some of my new colonized PF and MAZ jars.
