wakarusa holly shit
    #5745535 -

never in my life have i ever seen so many cops at a festival. random campsite searches. flashlight pupal checks upon entry. 1000 dollar bond for pot. it was the scariest weekend ever they were running the place. pat down searches for no reason. i was arrested within an hour and a half of being there for selling beer. not a ticket ... ARRESTED... taken to jail. there were kids in there for having a beer in there hand.

Mega lame.

What is the deal with Waka? Everybody heard about this shit in advance, check points and all that.

Anyone know, specifically, why THIS festival seems to have been a target? Is it just the first of many future ruined festivals to come? :frown:

That's totally fucked...

That's why I wont go to a fest in kansas.

Regarding the right to unlawful searches and seizures... more people need to learn and exercise their rights. Cop tells you something intimidating and most people just fold over.

let me let you in on a festival secret, the dea agents at bonnaroo and every other festival? they are given free tickets form the promoters. yes thats right suprefly and all the other promoters and event throwers, SIT DOWN WITH THE DEA. aThey have a meeting. They coordinate places for the agents to make a base on site and so on and so forth.

its the sort of deal that has to be made for these things to happen. While festivals like bonnaroo have leway, as they bring shit tons of business to manchester and the surronding areas. They can say, well we can only provide space for so and so many agents, thus controlling the amount let in. this power is increased by the fact that they are on provate land as well.

Now take WAKA, held on a PUBLIC park, the state can do whatever the fuck they want, as its a state run park. not a good place for a festival..... no leway, no rights.

Some people missed this apparently - http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2006/may/04.../?wakarusa_2006

Also it's worth noting that the DEA and FBI were behind the "license and registration checkpoints"...

Also bonnaroo hires one of the best security forces in the nation, and tells the cops WEe can handle it.

did you know that the largest free standing calvary ever assembled in america, since colonial war times, was at bonaroo?! yeah.

the fact that that article said that they were only spending $100,000 on security, for 15000 people, $6 a head, is probably why they had this issue. it costs alot more to secure a festival of that size.... for shame

Being arrested is never something to be proud of unless you got arrested protesting something you firmly believe in.

I just talked to AniNator, she said it was sketchy as all hell but she's fine.

Well, getting high at wakarusa in spite of the police state status there could be considered as a form of protest.

In fact whenever anyone gets high at all they are protesting the laws.

Some people are Dumb! A state park :thumbdown:it's the same reason i wont go to Langerado.Samething happend at JamCruise last year. The funny thing is that cops always warn before hand and people still go. If people where smart they would just avoid going altoghether and force promoters pick better places.
