Microsoft Vista feature presentation
    #5667897 - 05/24/06 08:50 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Pretty funny even to me.

Of course OSX lacks the two features I really care about, application compatibility and commodity hardware support.

OX-X application compatibility is getting better. Projects like fink help bring open source to the mac. However, you are absolutely correct with respect to the hardware. (I also have a few gripes from the programming end on OS-X, but I don't wanna hijack the thread.)

I've tried the last 3 beta versions of Vista.
So far they all sucked.
If their Retail release isn't much better, I'll be sticking with my 2000.

I just tried the most recent public build and it's about what I exptected: incremental and evolutionary changes from XP. The best feature is you don't have to run as admin all the time. You know how with XP people finally stopped bitching about stability and started bitching about security? With Vista I think they'll stop bitching about security and find something brand new to bitch about.

i believe i read that with Vista's Media Center you'll no longer need an IR Blaster hooked up to a Set Top Box to have access to all your channels past the first 95, and considering i only have one set top box which i share with my roommate, that will be righteous.

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Just what I was looking forward to: learning a new UI. I hope they have a button to revert to the Win2K GUI which I know well enough to use with my eyes closed and no mouse.

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Vista isn't any harder to set up like "normal" Windows than XP. Disable themes, change a few settings under folder options, done.
