I'm going to pick up a new laptop soon. Any recommendations or suggestions?
A few people have recommended the new MacBook, or a Dell, or a HP.
Gracias!

MacBook Pro for sure. I love my Powerbook G4.

I've heard that the software available for Mac is limited, is there any truth in that? Also, whats the battery life like for yours?

Battery life could be better, definitely. I don't really keep track of the time though, I usually have it plugged in, I probably should get anew battery and calibrate it.
Depends on what you do with your computer. Do you play a lot of computer games? If so, look elsewhere, for the Mac world is a desert when it comes to video games, except for stuff like World of Warcraft.
But if you're looking to do anything creative - audio, visual art, video - then the Mac has a WORLD of software for you.

Hm, that sounds promising, except for the games bit What about Valve games like DoD, CS, and Half Life?

I believe Half Life and CS have Mac versions but you have to research that for yourself; I don't really play FPS games so I don't really know.

Get a barebones laptop and build up from there. Do a little research and you can get a custom-built computer/laptop for cheaper than package deals like Dell, etc. that give you lots of shit you won't use and none of the shit you need.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Apple, but if you have a lot of money they will custom-build for you, I think. But it's expensive as hell and you can't tinker with it at all, which is annoying.
You should stick with Windows if you're a gamer. If you want a variety of creative applications you could give Linux a shot. Or, like me, you could dual-boot. Best of both worlds.
It really depends on what you use your laptop for.
