I've noticed the same thing - it is kind of annoying at times.

It's not doing that for me anymore. I think it had to do with an ad loading or something.

I used to get that also on my old mac. Not anymore though.

On a related note...

You know when you click on an image and it enlarges? It would be cool if there was just a button or something to get to the previous or next image (like < or >).

That way you wouldn't have to hit back twice as often.
