That damned escape button!

This probably doesn't effect too many people that post, but for me it is a friggin pain.  I am used to using the vi editor, and any good vi user knows to hit the escape button every few keystrokes without thinking. 

(The vi editor has an insert mode used to add content, and an edit mode used to edit content.  You get out of insert mode and into edit mode by hitting the escape button.  Hitting escape becomes second nature after a while...)

The problem is the javascript that inserts characters into the text box, so that spell checking works, erases everything that is typed in the text box when a user hits escape.  I have lost more posts this way than I want to think about.

I know the work around is to type into something like wordpad and then cut and paste the text across.  It would be much nicer if the problem were not there in the first place.  If anybody gets bored, take a look at the javascript that works with the textarea box and see if you can catch and discard the escape character please!  :smile:

Well I don't know enough about the coding end of things to do as you ask. But why don't you just hit CTRL+Z to undo the delete whenever it happens?
