My cultivation of Psilocybe Weilii....

First off, I would like to say this is my first attempt at the cultivation of mushrooms of any kind. I plan to make this an ongoing post where I update the results.

So far this year I have discovered roughly 50 psilocybe weilii mushrooms. After experimentation with 15 or so and giving 15 to a friend of mine I have been left with 20 large species of psilocybe weilii. I have two seperate ideas for growing these weilii and creating new 'patches'. At a friend of mine's (the same friend I gave weilii too) we printed 7 large caps. In his backyard which recieves a good amount of sunlight I spread a forty pound bag of mulch. I then proceeded to distribute 10 weilii throughout the mulch and buried them under about 3in. of mulch and pinestraw. I then watered the mulch and told my friend to water every other day. As long as the mulch doesn't recieve rain that is. I also distributed four large spore prints throughout the mulch and hydrated them throughout the process. This is the first place and method I am preparing weilii to grow.

That occured yesterday. When I returned to my home after hunting again I took my remaining 10 weilii species and their spore prints and I dug up a patch of my bermuda grass. Under the grass layer I placed my weilii species and their spore prints I distributed under them as weill. I proceeded to hydrate the grass once I placed the patch of land on top. Again this occured yesterday. I have watered said patch both days.

Psilocybe Weilii seem to have an attraction for areas with Georgia Red Clay under the soil. I am not sure if this is due to some nutrients in the soil or the pH of the resulting land, but I have ensured that both areas where I am attempting to grow have these mediums. I will continue to update this post with pictures if growth occurs. My plan for this season is to bury half of all my weilii species under the ground. My hope is that (like others on this board) I will have my very own weilii field less than 20 feet from my front door.

Nice, I'm in a county that has no weilli but like you i hope to bring them to my back yard. Good Luck and keep us updated on the activity.
