well my project was going ok, it was very cold in my room so i got a catylitic heater, but that made it too hot to sleep in (i live with parents) so i got a small electric blanket and put it under the jars, and a sweater over the top, this was yesterday at 2:00pm, well today at 12:00 pm i noticed that the mycellium didnt seem as fluffy as usual, and in spots the mycellium looked dry. i borrowed a thermometer and watched it rise to 95-99 (dont know how accurate it was) the jars were exposed to this temp for 22 hours, so my question is, did i just destroy my project?

As long as it didn't get much hotter than that, I think you will be fine. I believe the mycelium starts to die at 106F.

Mmm... Im sure the high temperatures could have really been detrimental to your jars, however if you keep your temps down in the right range, they should hopefully be able to get back to normal. TMC says that Psilocybe Cubensis mycelium dies at 106F, your jars could have been that hot inside, but we'll hope your thermometer was reading high, and everything is ok. Try to get a cooler or something to put them in, with some warm water to keep your temps up. It will restrict co2 exchange and keep humidity high.

No , they should be ok .Foaf had jars in temps around 104 for about a week staight, they recovered very slowly though . It may be a better idea not using that heating pad it can dry out your cakes . Lots of people do use them though . they should be fine,, they might slow down for a few days ,,goodluck

I read that thermal death for mycleum is 107 degrees so you probably didn't kill it just keep it around 80-85 degrees from now on. I advise a rubbermaid with a fishtank heater in a bottle. That works for me. ~Ricky~

well i hope i didnt ruin everything.. ive gone through 2 methods of heating, and both failed, i dont know if the cooler thing will work, i live with parents and if they found out i'd be SOL. im trying to come up with a way to heat them inconspicuously (spelling?) any ideas are greatly appreciated. btw, does the mycellium looking kind of dry mean anything? is it dead? thanks for all of your help

its not dead, just stunned. You might try seperating the pad from the jars so that its not in direct contact....towels, tshirt, use your imagination. Isnt the heat pad adjustable?
