getting fries since thats the only thing thats edible there, and this lady storms up to the counter and starts raving until the manager comes and asks her what the problem is. She starts screaming about how the bitch that took her order doesn't know how to hear or is an idiot and that she asked for EXTRA pickles and no onions on her hamburger, and there are only TWO pickles and she was overcharged. "I DEMAND THIS BE FREE AND THAT YOU FIX IT," she hissed as she practically bit the guy's head off.
This is how I view the average person to be these days.
I would have told the fat cunt to fuck off and slammed her half-eatten hamburger down her throat, but that would have only made it worse for the nice guy that worked there and added to all this retarded, shitty energy.
thats my anecdote

You know, I hate the 'customer is always right' attitude. The customer is not always right, the customer in fact - is quite often a douche, and I think if ANY customer becomes irate like that, they should get zero service and simply be told "Sorry, we dont want or need your business, you can take it elsewhere next time."
Now, it would be one thing if she came up and said "Hi, sorry, I asked for extra pickles, and there isnt that many on here, could you please correct this?" -- sure, its a bit fussy, but far polite and non-cuntish. To come up screaming and yelling is retarded. And the thing that I hate, is that 9.9 times out of 10 - the staff will cave to them, and that just gives off the message that it is acceptable behavior when its not.
When my sister worked at a bank in England, she had the right to refuse customers service if they were being loud/rude/irate/etc, and the managers would always back up the staff on it also, so if my sister refused someone service and they demanded to see the manager – the manager would always back her up on the position.
Mind you, this also puts a lot of responsibility onto the staff to not take out their bad days on the customers and refuse even polite people service just because they are in a bad mood.

Smaller stores tend to throw people out on the curb when they act like that. The scene they cause is bad for business, it scares other customers away.
So, the douchebags get a figurative foot to the ass. If they refuse to leave, then the police convince them to leave.

i wish we had the right to refuse people service. sometimes i think people come in and they know they can treat us like shit and get away with it.

Heh. That woman is a total bitch.
There's no reason to act that way, especially at McDonald's, where, if you're desperate or dishonest, the food is free anyway.
I've never done this illegitimately, but I have done it twice when justified;
Go to the counter and see the manager. Tell him/her that you went through the drive-thru 3 days ago and ordered a #3 with a Coke but only got a single Quarter Pounder with cheese intead of the double. (S)he'll replace the entire meal on the spot or give you a card entitling you to a free meal whenever you like.
Sweet, huh?

people like that call me all day at work. its my job to get yelled at and fix shit for people who cant pay their own insurance, so the mortgage company force places insurance on there.
most of them are completely incompetent but they think they know exactly how everything runs here and they wont take no for an answer. hurricanes katrina and wilma had my phone ringin off the hook with people who werent even understandable. either new orleans folk or mexicans the whole time. it blew ass
and i definately agree, the customer is not always right. they just think they are

if you did that while i was running shift i'd make you describe the person who gave you the food, ask why you didn't return it the same day, tell you you must have liked it, etc. etc. people have come in with empty cups and said, i didn't like the drink you made me, i want another. then i look at their empty cup and tell them no, because they obviously liked the drink since they drank it all. fucking cheap-ass people.

"I live about 2 miles away, miss, and I didn't have time to come back over one missing meat pattie. Besides, then my fries would have been cold and my ice would have been melted."
Your response would be as described above in my previous post, according to McDonald's policies.

I would have tried to take the wrap for them a bit and been like "Lady give them a break. There are people in the world dying everyday hour from starvation and you've got PMS over a few pickles?"
