has anyone seen george clinton recently

i've seen him twice. the first time was about 4 or 5 years ago. he was with p-funk and it was just fucking awesome. One of the funnest shows i've ever seen.  :thumbup: Then i saw him about a year and a half ago with, i think, the funkadelics, and it wasn't nearly as good. He only came out for about an hour (the rest of the time the band played and sang) and the show just didnt have the same energy. It wasn't as funky and they kept asking the audience to scream over and over throughout the whole show, i think to kill time, and then acting like we weren't wild enough for them to continue. It got really annoying, but i still had fun.

So anyways, he's gonna be in town next sunday as "george clinton and friends" which means he couldnt get p-funk to come along i guess, and the tickets are only 15 dollars and he's playing in a tiny little venue. So i'm wondering if anyone has seen them on this current tour and if it's worth going to see, or if it's just kind of a let down by a old cracked out has been.

I think i'd probably have fun, but i'm wondering if anyone knows what the deal is, and why he's playing in tiny venues for half of what he normally charges.

last year he did a show at Zoe in Missouri.
he was on stage wearing a diaper and smoking crack out of a 3 or 4 foot bong.

it was george.
this all took place on a private land festival.
that dood was maxxor fucked up.

there were SOOOOOOOOOOO many drugs going around there.

it coulda been better.
only like 2000 people showed up for the fest and out of that mabey
only like 800 people came for the show. the rest were dealers it seemed.
george and p funk were so fucked up. it seemed like they really didn't care to go all out since the crowd was so small.

yeah, they're definetly the type of band that needs a strong crowd reaction to play a good show. i'll go to the show since it's so cheap, and hopefully it will rock. i'm just a bit worried it will be a let down.

I saw George Clinton with P-funk on 4/20/05 in Ft. Lauderdale in a small club called the Culture room. It was a good show and George was out there alot longer then an hour but there were parts where he would go backstage and shit. They also did that shit where they ask the crowd to yell and all that like at a hip hop concert but all in all it was good they also had Bernie Wearhl(sp?) the key board player there and that guy plays music for a different fuckin dimention.

I just saw him in august. I was alright, I think they hated the crowd, cuz it seemed pretty dead. They preformed at this local festival called musikfest, so it was a real small turn out. Plus the festival shut the music down on them just as they were gettin their groove. Musikfest sucks.

just in case anyone was wondering, the show SUCKED. Just horrible...It was basically some crappy band playing stuff for "sativa diva" and a couple other wankers to rap over. That lasted for about an hour or two, and then george came out and they did about six p-funk songs very badly. george is strung out and he's too old i think. I'm sad to say that he has lost the funk. The only redeeming quality was the main singer Kendra. She's really good, really hot, and great fun to watch...but even her great stage presence could not save this blasphemous impostor showcase. They didn't even have a damn horn section. :nonono:

last time i saw him was about a year and a half ago and it sucked ass... they would start to actually get down and sound great and then stop abruptly and start with the whole "from the windows to the walls til sweat drips off my balls...etc" crapi mean they sang that crap about 20 times throughout the show. i was pissed but just figured it was all due to being inthe "dirty south" and playing to the crowd... it was at city stages in birmingham...and it sucked ass.

well that one is kind of a famous p-funk chant, so i'd actually be upset if they didn't do it.

and if the show your thinking about going to is "george clinton and friends" then it's not p-funk. is the real p-funk touring atm? if so, i wasn't aware.

Ol' GC has been doin dat YIN YANG TWINS song for a few years now... about 2 years to this date I saw him locally (Beale Street Music Fest) and first of fucking all he didn't come out till about halfway through the show and periodically disappeared. He was wearing an old maroon Ecko jumpsuit and had his hair tied back with a backwards cap, and maybe its just be but I think "Windows to the Walls" is the staple of the GC P-FUNk bag for the time being; I didn't say I liked it, but obviously he grooves with it, it just doesn't have any subtlety at all... keep hittin' the rock for the cause GC
