Smiley Menu might benefit from...

1) A favorites tab for easy access to the smileys I use most often.
1) A search feature so I can easily find what I need.
3) "Sort by most frequently used" tab (*by all shroomerites, not the individual user)
4) "Newest Smileys" tab so I can keep track of all the new additions

I know some of these have been covered and shot down already but in all seriousness the smiley panel is a pain in the ass to use most of the time. Just my two cents.

I agree.It took my 20 minutes to make fun of someone last night because I couldnt find the proper smiley to express myself.

Hehe.. I just have to laugh.  My apologies for this entirely personal rant - but you have done a good job outlining the reasons for why before our smiley panel burgeoned with so many emoticons, I was against adding more than could be displayed cleanly right on the post screen.  Not only the fact that it's now difficult to find specific smileys you may like that are now buried in the sea of smilies.. but also that inevitably, new requests for addition and removal pop up regularly and then there are these functionality requests that take significantly more time and consideration to implement.. if they are to be implemented at all.  Then if the admin responsible might not want to implement it, animosity may present.

Mind you, I just rolled out of bed - and I have a cold.. so maybe I'm just :crankey:

At any rate, I don't mind the smiley panel now that it's a pop-up and doesn't screw up my post screen :smirk:
.. and hey it is kinda cool to get lost in the bounteous smiley panel full of lavishly liberal (some lousy) luxuriant graphics.. when I'm stoned with time on my hands :grin:

Allright I'm done.. I wouldn't know how to implement your requests anyway :tongue2:

I like the idea of a personal favorites menu in place of the small panel that's there now.

Perhaps you guys could set up an automatic program where users could have nominations and then can vote every month which ones to throw away and which ones to keep, while keeping the total number stable?

I bet a small java program would suffice...
