Cancun advise

three friends of mine are taking their girls with them to Cancun and asked if I wanted to bring a girl with me. After tring to convince them that it would be funner without them proved to be no good, I decided to go anyway without a girl. Any advise on where and what to check out. We will only be there 4 days. I would like to check out some old ruins down there but how for are they from cancun? I dig snorkling and stuff like that. Any certain bars to check out? Also when i go on a plane trip inside the U.S. I take my favorite herbal medicine. Any way i can pull this off just into mexico. Is it also true that i can go into a pharmacy and get basically what i want? any advise whould be very appreciated.

never been to cancun, but ive been to rocky point... my one advise is dont drink the water or eat the food... cancun is nicer tho so you should be able to atleast eat the food at the restraunts... but no taco stands... for all i know they are using dog meat...

and ya you can get anything at the pharmacies, mabye not in cancun tho thats more of a tourist area... and if you did theres no way you can get them on the plane...

Yeah don't drink the water or you will feel montazumas revenge or whatever the fuck you call it. About the ruins they are very cool and you can take day long bus tours out of cancun into tulume(sp) which is really worth the day it takes. Don't worry to much about pharmacies you can get drugs at home if you need some smoke you might be able to find a local in the market place selling pipes that look they could be for weed ask him if you can have it filled when you buy it. Be carefull though they love ripping of gringos and carry lots of money to bribe the policia if your doing illegal drugs you don't wan't to wind up in mexican jail :tongue:

The water thing is bullshit...

I went to cancun in 2k1 and drank/ate everything in sight.

The city has a water-treatment plant for all the water thats used in all the hotels and resteraunts. They don't want sick tourists. Sick tourists don't come back as often.

As far as what to check out...check out the malls. They have some awesome malls there that have some insane stores (gucci, prada, ect).

The flea market is pretty cool if you want to find some typical "cheap mexi-crap"...just be prepared to hassled by the locals.

For the most part the locals are awesome. The ones from the Yucatan are smaller in stature and have a broader nose and darker complexion. They are of Mayan decent, and they are proud of it.

Senior frogs, fat tuesdays, O'Brians...those are some good starter bars.

Make sure you use and take advantage of the bus system in cancun. When I was there it was 5 pesos to ride for as long as you wanted. You could get on/off where ever you wanted, 24/7 hrs a day.

Do the jungle tour on the mini-speed boats, it's awesome!

Also, I did the pirate cruise/dinner thing. It was awesome. We all had a steak dinner, with our ship getting attacked by another ship (theatrical preformance). It's like a mexican version of las vegas in cancun. Seriously.

The beaches there are the best in Mexico (IMO)...they are limestone, so they are white-white-WHITE! They also don't get hot like beaches in cali, hawaii, flordia, cabo, puerto vaharta...

The place is paradise. I'd HIGHLY and STRONGLY sugest you get a tour to Chitzen Itza to see the mayan pyramids...I think a full day should run less than 80$ per person. (its a 4 hour drive each way in an A/C bus with a full tour and lunch).

Look around for deals, but don't take the deals from the guys in the airport. They'll try and sucker you in before you can get to your cab or rental car. Just walk right on by them...there will be more "deals" once your situated!

Cancun kicks ass! trust me, you'll have a great time as long as you don't do anything stupid...use common sense and don't eat shit from street vendors or drink water from outside the hotel or restuarants unless you want cholera.

Thanks alot for the advise. I really want to check out the mayan ruins, but i'm only gonna be there for 4 days, and 4 hrs each way on a tour bus does not sound that great. i just hate tour buses and other tourists. when i was in jamacia my cabbie/dealer/travel advisor drove us to dunn's river falls. he said he'd take us for half the price and we could smoke his stash, good times. what about me getting a car and driving myself? would it be hard to do? i'm a veteren road tripper. would just like to have my own freedom for 8hr in a car on vacation, not with strangers on a bus.

go to the pharmacy and get soma.... you can also check out some vet places because some sell ketamine.... i have never been there but thats what i heard

Oh, about drugs... it is not that easy to get them, search for this around the forum some have tried, some get them some don?t. Maybe it would be easier than in the US but you still need a signed recipe in most of the pharmacies.

Have fun in Canc?n, a beautiful place but not the 'real' M?xico :wink:

IF you need herb, our hotel staff was more than friendly, with a decent tip :smile:

Also, don't count on the pharmacies to serve you, as they refused to sell me anything of value.

you can make $1000 in four days if you want,if you do it right, I have
have any bullshit laminated photoshoped IDs
that have matching street addresses or last names for you and your girl
if they ask are you honeymooners say yes or just practicing
dont get ripped off holetls like mayan palace pay $200 caSH us for 2 hrs of your time
you can also get a bunch of free trips to theme parks and ruins
tulum are nice small ocean front ruins to see
chichen itza ruins are much more impresize and further away from gringo turisovilla
too bad u dont have more time there
there alot to do maybe change your flight if you got the time to stay
hostles are cheap and mexico has a lot to offer
