MJ problem
    #5382027 - 03/09/06 04:28 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I suppose it's not a real problem, persay, considering the bud is the size of my wrist, but here goes.
It's the 50th day of flowering, and these are suppose to go anywhere from 56 to 63 (it's Morocco Afghani from Nirvana seeds) and it's starting to get a little crispy on the leaves. Like little brown spots, that soon envelope the whole leaf. At first i thought it was nutrient overload, but it's happening on both plants, in the same manner on both, and still budding like mad.
Could it be an overload of just phosphorus? I'm using Fox Farm Big Bloom (2-8-4) so that's all i could think it could be an overload of. I'm now leaning toward a deficiency of some nutrient, and I just made a gallon of 6-4-4 Grow Big, i'm hoping this will clear it up.
Any thoughts? I had been giving them a tablespoon of the big bloom every watering before i noticed anything. I switched to a half tablespoon every other watering.

could be from over/under feeding..saturated medium..low light levels..or nutrients imbalance

Yeah, i figured one of those. I'm for sure it's not over saturation, the soil gets plenty dry between waterings. And i'm sure it's not spider mites, cause i've seen those before and they're completely visible on the underside of the leaves, and i've looked.

I'm gonna go dig out a picture, thanks for the responses so far.

I just found these online, it's pretty much exactly what's happening to them, starting with the top one and continuing to the last one, where they all turn like the middle leaf and just fall off.

Could also be pH malfunction, if the pH of the water is to high or low, it will lockout certain nutes from getting to the plant. You want a pH of about 6.5.

Also what are the temps like? Did you spill nutes on those leaves? Are the lights to close?

Pictures would def help

Didn't see those pics before for some reason. If it looks like those rusty leaves, I'd say its pH problem or a mag def. But if your in your last week of flowering, you should just give them plain water and harvest them.

Yeah, those pics are pretty much exactly what's happening. I think it's probably a Ph problem causing a nutrient lockout, they've been getting a lot of ferts before it showed up, plus some naturally hard water couldn't help. It's happening to more and more of them too, but all as they reach a certain size.. I think it's just plain water from here on out.

Thanks everyone! Anyone know how to avoid this problem in the future? Any natural amendments or precautions one can use to help with it?

Get a good pH pen by hanna (or cheap it out by getting a fish tank pH tester) And get some pH up and pH down. Do you know the TDS of your water? If you have hard water it might mean you have a high TDS, basically means you already have all kind of crap in your water to begin with, means u might have to cut back on the nutes.

Also leave your water in the open for atleast 24 hrs, this takes out a lot of the cholrides in the water making to better for them. The pH kits is key though. You want your water to be about 6.5 when u feed them.
