Luckily I got my own browser, put some code into it that will force it to just plain not open and kind of new pop-up or window.

what about when you need to use aim express? or when you need to launch video from somewhere, and the link brings up a new window for that?

Usually I try to directly download video clips, or just link to them in a media player.

I always use trillian, so I dunno about aim express.

If I have to I'll load another browser for something.

When you start a new browser from scratch in visual c++ you can make it based on IE by just setting it up right (no real code work is required until you want to make your own modifications), and you can basically modify your own version from there.

I did it a long time ago, probably never thought of it, since IE and visual studio go hand in hand.. but you are right, shoulda.

That's one of the things I love most about firefox. Well that, and the no popups. And the many ways to customize it to your liking and add themes and extensions.
