Hello all. This is my first post here. I'm an expatriate in Japan, an old hippie who took many trips in earlier years. Had all the influences of the Sixties generation. Got court-martialed for refusing to fight in Nam, and spent some time in a military brig. Went to Afghanistan and India in the seventies. Wanted to be a writer like Kerouac, Kesey, Hesse, et al. Ended up in Japan in 1983. Been working on a project for years and just finished it: a novel called "Autumn Shadows in August." Can't really categorize it other than saying it's an hallucinogenic mid-life crisis/adventure, and homage to Malcolm Lowry and Hermann Hesse. Also, about a third of the story takes place in Amsterdam with the main character on a mushroom retrospective.
You can listen to the podcast for free at http://norris.podOmatic.com The book is available at Amazon, but cheaper at http://www.lulu.com/robertnorris
Thanks for reading this promo. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone gives.

Thanks much for the warm welcome. I don't have much time each day to spend online, but the forums here look like they'll have plenty of informative and interesting reading. I don't get too many chances in Japan to talk about or listen to others talk about mushroom experiences. My own experiences changed my life almost every time. I like to think I'm a bit wiser and mellower and more accepting as a result.

Autumn Shadows in August is a wonderful book!
A truly inspiring and enlightening story, I urge anyone who values great literature to indulge themselves in this thought provoking masterpiece.
One can listen to his podcast, but I downloaded the ebook for only $3.00 and it was by far the best $3.00 I've ever spent on a book.

Wow! Thank you so much BioBunny for the wonderful compliment. You made my day. Getting that kind of reaction makes all the work that went into the novel worthwhile. I hope other people on this list will read it, too. All the best.
