Hermann Hesse

Anyone else a fan of Hesse? I just finished reading Steppenwolf for the third time and am planning on hitting Narcicus and Goldmund and The Glass Bead Game next (I haven't read either yet).

Anyway, I figured there are probably a few Hesse fans around this community because of his curiously psychedelic passages on revelation, illumination, enlightenment, etc. The magic theatre of Steppenwolf's final pages and Govinda's illumination at the end of Siddhartha are both experiences to which I can relate through my use of mushrooms and lsd.

Soooo.... what's your favorite hesse book?

Also, has anyone read any of his poetry? If not, check it out. He wasn't really known for being a poet, but damn it's good stuff.

Narcissus and Goldmund is with out a doubt my favorite Hesse novel.

I want to live in Northern Exposure. Ed Chigliak would be my pal.

Siddhartha was one of my favorites.
