Second consecutive Microwaving success

I recently finished a casing of Texans for my first ever shroom grow, doing it without very much care to being extra sterile. I'm naturally a clean person anyhow so I didn't wipe anything with alcohol/bleach or spray anything beforehand, and just washed out an old jar with some antibacterial soap.
I filled a jar with wbs half way then added water 3/4ths the way and shook-strained only once. Added water till 1/4 an inch above the wbs put piece of tyvek over mouth of jar(no lid) press down around shoulders(steam will pop it up a little) microwaved on full for 10 mins(1500watt I believe) then added water till it was just covering wbs nuked on various power settings(3 mins on 10 then 9 for 2 8-7-6 etc) 10 min shook it all a few times and let cool against a window innoced a matter of hours later(wait till cool)
Well all went well again and I just got my first pins of koh samui yesterday and took a pic(crappy one) I have a casing asell with nothing special just some dirt and trimmings I made hash with-which may give me a contam, it stinks and hisses with peroxide/water spray but hasn't yet for about a week I don't see a pressure cooker in my near future

Its good to see that you can get by without a pressure cooker.
I personally wouldn't dream of investing a bunch of time into jars if I didn't know they were completley sterile. Pressure cookers are the best investment any grower can make.
And is that pin within the cake or is it just me?

It's growing from within the cake, I'm not quite sure what you mean.
I leave a little wbs in the bottom of the jar, sprinkle some dirt over top and have myself a desk plant(casing the rest). I got about a quarter oz dry off my last desktop jar I cut the cake into quarters and slid each peice out ot harvest, then after cleaning mushrooms off I crumble and add it underneath my casing.
And I dunno what the best investment is, but I haven't spent a dime(got spores for free) on anything; I feed the birds, have jars around, tyvek from post office, potting soil already had, and well the water I pay for but not much

It's great that you had so much success with the microwave but you should invest in a pressure cooker. Boiling water in microwaves is extremely dangerous. Your actually superheating the water because the lack of bubbles. You may actually be getting the water above 212 degrees farenheit without it boiling. When you remove the jar from the microwave the disturbance in the water could allow the temperature and pressure to rise dramatically causing the jar to explode. Please use extreme caution when doing anything like that in the microwave, especially with glass jars!

I agree. Nothing beats a good PC.

Thanks for your concern, the water does boil tho; after about 3 mins on high it will be boiling. I don't use a lid, just a piece of tyvek pushed down around the neck of the jar so it drapes over it sorta, until the steam pushes some of it up, so that may have something to do with it. I will listen tho and allow it to cool for a few mins(maybe reach in a push the lid on), for it is EXTREMELY hot taking it out(I used potholders) and would hate to have a face full of burning glass

To each his own, I prefer 20 mins in the microwave and be done, but I'm a small personal hobby grower.

Well I'm going to knock on wood and prematurely show what I think will be my third and fourth successes using the microwave. Same style, 10 mins on full power shake jars add a little more bottled water and put in for another 10 on different settings until it looks like the water was evaped off. Tho these two batches I cleaned the wbs in a strainer under hot water from the faucet.
Penis Evny 06 on the left which was innoced over a week after the Puerto Rican on the right.

What exactly are these different settings? You say "(3 mins on 10 then 9 for 2 8-7-6 etc) 10 min"
What is that? 3min power level 10 2min power level 9 then what?
Also, what is the purpose? To bring the temperatures down gradually?

My microwave has power settings, from 1-10 yours might have low to high or something similar. I just kept chaning it lower throughout the second time I'm not sure the exact times on each power setting but was probably a min. I did it hoping that I could control them from all exploding and evap the water out of it without burning the WBS that is on top without water(just steam rising), I did it and it worked so I haven't tried it any other way.

it is to keep temps constant at boiling without adding excess power which only serves to drive the moisture off. Moisture content is the main problem with the microwave, this can be overcome by weighing you jars and seeing if you have to add more water (as LC) or if you need to drive off more.

The PR is on the right, you think I should put some scotch tape over the lid to try and keep some moisture in and force them to grow sideways along the lid?
