A gang of thieves used a bitch in heat to distract a guard dog so they could raid a factory in Brazil.
After breaking into the factory in Santa Maria, they put the bitch near the guard dog, reports Zero Hora newspaper.
And while the guard dog was distracted, the gang took ?10,000 in cash from the Segalin agricultural products company.
The secretary, who was the first to arrive at the factory, told the police: "When I arrived at the company I saw Zulu, the dog happily chasing after a female dog."
CCTV footage confirmed the secretary's suspicions.
A police spokesperson said: "Those are very creative and resourceful thieves, that was a very good idea!"

You have to be smart to be a thief and not get caught... good idea, but wouldn't a pile of BBQ steak full of tranquilizers been more reliable? I mean, what if that was a gay dog? Then they'd have been homodogfood.

Having a dog in heat in your car makes a k-9 search useless. Male or female, the dog will go nuts over the pheremones.

Having had a dog in heat riding with you in the recent past can also trigger those sort of reactions during searches.
Those pheremones linger

that would never hold up in court. they'd just search your car, find drugs, and convict you. but it's interesting to know.

Jonny is probably right. It doesn't mattet that the pheremones were driving the dog nuts, if the dog acted like it was smelling a substance inside.. there would be probable cause.
Now if the dog in heat was outside the car, and distracted the search dog so much that he didn't bother sniffing your car... that's a remote possibility of success. At least more possible than having it in your car.
