Thanks for the info, I really didnt think you knew what you where talking about. My dad was a part time locksmith so I have a little experience with locks, do you know if they come with a sliding bolt?

I have all of those, so they're all options. Don't forget, you can always cut the frame of the bike and reweld it later. I've seen it done
It would be like putting a vault door on my home, but leaving the windows as is.

I recently lost my bike lock keys so I've been leaving my bike outside my classes unlocked. Im really lucky that loads of people frequent campus and that there are tonnes of bikes at the racks. I just put mine in the midst of dozens of others and no one notices its unlocked. I definitely wouldnt try that shit in the city though. Or leave it overnight.

Yep, this is my preffered e-series padlock. The sliding bolt actually spins, so it makes it that much more frustrating if trying to cut it with any type of spining disc
That's cool your dad was in the industry. I absoulutely love it.

The spoon is only for comparative purposes, it is not a theft prevention device, unless you consider its use to scoop out the eyeball of the next fucker I catch trying to steal my shit!
Real thieves carry the jaws of life with them at all times
I just wanted to mention this thing in a thread because I think they're cool and it seems most pertinent here.

It's gonna eventually get stolen like that. You've just gotten lucky so far.

Yea, I agree. But as far as the lock itself, it's probably one of the best. As well as the Abloy series.
I sort of disagree with that last comment. We hear that all the time in the shop.
Referring to the motto mentioned above, if your neighbour doesn't have a vault door on his house, who's house are they going to choose
Basically, you want to deter them as much as possible.
Think of it as a project. After the vault door is on the house, put some 24mm security film on the windows next

You make a good point. To play devil's advocate though, it might just draw attention to the fact that you have something to steal

Today was a slow day, so I set up a mounted sample with a weiser deadbolt and was literally bumping it open, with customers watching from time to time, every couple seconds.
It's so ridiculously easy, I almost can't believe it.
I've gotten pretty good at picking though and I still prefer it...much more satisfying

Yeah, it always seemed like fun, like playing with puzzles all day at work. The hours were pretty miserable for him though. I play around with standard 5 pin tumblers, but thats about it. Its pretty funny though how "locksport" is becoming such a growing hobby. I blame DEFCON.

Ah, the skills of a misspent youth. I had no idea it was a growing hobby.
Picking locks like that sounds like a good way to get people to buy the more expensive shit though.

That's what we try to tell people...it's not rocket science, anyone can do it.
I learned how to do it from watching a youtube video.
Crazy stuff.
Go high security people and don't look back at that crap you had on your door.

I once saw a little girl steal my bike. She must have been 10 years old. Me and my friend hopped in his car real quick and got it back like 200 feet away. Fucking ridiculous.

When I was a kid, some guy took my bike and was riding off at full speed, so I threw my hocky stick at him, it went right through the front spokes, and the bike flipped end over end. The guy had a bunch of fingernails ripped off in the landing, so I let him go. Bike was fine though.
