----thats not even half the issue. I dont think Iran has any intentions of launcing nuclear weapons or declaring war against any country. THe real question is: would you trust Iran with refusing business offers with terrorist organizations in exhange for nuclear precursors. THe UN is just proposing the idea of being sure this nuclear program is MONITORED Of course they should have the opportunity of nuclear powerplants but if they are not gonna be compliant with inspectors, then it's possible they will face the same consequences as Iraq.

When schooled, secular, Iranian nationals come to the US and say that the present Iranian government should not have nuclear weapons...I think that's a decent directional nudge for world policy.

At the risk of repeating myself, I don't think Iran should have nuclear capabilities, but military force isn't going to achieve anything other than increased insurgency and terrorism. Strategically it's a no brainer - and if you look at North Korea, well sanctions have worked there, and they DO have nuclear capability.

It would be preferable to have them on side, but even if Iran continue to sell oil to China, Russia and India, it isn't going to make much of an impact on the rest of the oil market caused by sanctions and the increased price rise.

Iran wouldn't be ready for a war any more than North Korea is "ready" for a war. We'd annhilate them with one peacekeeper V and that would be that. Sure, they might be able to smuggle a nuke into the US and blow up a big city, or Tel Aviv, but then either Israel or the US would smite them.


Of course, having a arab nation supply a nuke to a terrorist that was used would REALLY open up our options in the middle east. Noone would care about their alleged rights. We'd just march in, murder them and take the oil.
