A scanner darkly.
    #5236459 -

This upcomming Keanu Reeves flick is based on Philip K. Dick's personal drug experiences. The film highlights the inconsistencies and ironic consequences of the war on drugs. (pulled from imdb.com)

I've just seen a trailer for the movie, which comes out this year; it's very stylized. It reminds me of a certain animation process in the movie "waking life" were video footage is overlaid with a cartoon. Check out the trailer, and be sure to catch this in theaters.

I loved that book, I don't know why but it had such an incredible irony in it as the main character (I forgot his name) slowly fell into his sort of lifeless oblivion. Very cool book, I recommend it to everybody .

Thanks for pointing this out too.

I wish somebody would explain the bizarre title to me.

It's so odd.

All of his titles are odd.

A Scanner Darkly, The Man in the High Castle, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said...

He had quite a sharp mind for alternate realities.

Nope, none of the others seem wierd in comparison. All of them make sense.

Hell, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is probably the best possible title for the novel, from any perspective.

They all seem strange enough titles to me, but they usually fit the subject of the book well enough.

Apparently, he based it partially upon the holographic copy of life the character goes through (the scanner) and a Bible quote: "we see as through a mirror darkly".

My favorite Dick book.
I really hope they don't fuck it up. Linklater can hit or miss. Keanu Reeves pretty much always misses.

Keanu actually hit once... but it wasn't in a movie. He just walked into a signpost and hit his forehead. It's why he sounds like a moron, because he suffered brain damage.

At my high school we had a couple guys named Bill and Ted, they always hung out together.

The thing is, they were socially akward nerds with long hair, bad hygeine, low intellect, and hot girlfriends that were ultra loyal.

They were living paradoxes.
