Me too, Waking Life was incredibly good. It's interesting that A Scanner Darkly is based on a novel by Philip K. Dick; he's mentioned towards the end of Waking Life as well.

You should read the novel, really. Dick is a shitty writer who writes great books if that makes any sense. When I say he's a shitty writer it's because he has no consistency. He was on such a cocktail of methamphetamines and psychedelics that the feel, the tempo of his writing varies sometimes from paragraph to paragraph.

Makes for an interesting read though. I'd also suggest Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said.

Do you know which is the book that he wrote that's described in Waking Life? That apparently is strikingly similar to the Book of Acts?

Sweet, I think I'll check that book out, I was intrigued by the description in the movie.

you should also read this attachment... (How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later - by Philip K. Dick 1978)
it's what linklater talks about in the movie ( he mentiones reading an artical which made him dream...)
i wonder what to make of it though!
kinda freaked me out a little

i should read some of his books i know... i have to find some good book store first (used)

also i've seen "befor sunset" a few weeks ago and just now realized it's a sequel to another movie he made...
he also used both those actors in "waking life" and that scean is probably what made him want to make a sequal to the movie!
(excelent movie by the way)

 basically anything by Philip K Dick is pretty golden. He, Vonnegut, and Robert Anton Wilson all wrote what i like to refer to as 'psychedelic sci-fi'

Psychedelic sci-fi is the best sci-fi.

One area Dick absolutely excels in is the genre that is my favorite - the sci-fi short story.

I've seen Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Really great movies. Especially the huge time difference between the two, the actors and charecters have really aged.
Waking life is just a trip.
Too bad Keanu Reeves is in Scanner Darkly. Oh well, maybe he'll do OK.

Radiohead is going to do the score. I think it's supposed to be mostly songs that have already been released, with at least one new one.

If it is to be true to Dick, it will be sane.

He was a heavy user of both LSD and meth.

His meth use got so bad he reported visitations from God.

I saw the trailer for this movie yesterday when I went to see "Thank you for Smoking" It looks good, keanu has another one of those "I know Kung Fu lines" but its something like "So the left and right hemispheres of my brain are destroying each other?" Some shit like that.
