Random "voices"
    #5229731 -

I posted a HPPD thing a little while ago, and since then have come to the conclusion I'm mild-moderate OCD. It's been A LOT better since I've come to identify it, but was wondering about something else that may have been drug induced...

In August I ate E and 2ci for the first time, and maybe half an eighth 2 days later. The 2ci caused me to hear voices for a couple days, but it went away. Then in December I started reading about HPPD, and of course I can't elimainte paranoid thoughts, so I start noticing/inducing all this shit. One of the things I start worrying about is hearing voices again, and boom, one night I'm dozing off and the next thing I know I'm hearing my friend shout, "AWESOME!"

It's been happening most days since, only when I'm going to sleep. I know it's not real, and it sounds like it comes from my head, but it does freak me out since I don't recall it happening before. It's just people I know saying random words, then I jolt back to reality. Which leads me to believe I'm sort of "half asleep," and my brain hasn't shut down since I've been pretty on edge lately.

That's my optimistic outlook, but of course my friends are telling me to have it checked out because they've heard/read of drugs causing this sort of thing. Schizo has been referenced, but it doesn't sound like that based on what I know. I'm thinking I just need to relax and stop worrying about such random shit, but I can't stop the creeping fear that perhaps the drugs have altered something. This kind of keeps me awake at night, depending on how tired I am and/or how much I let it bother me.

Kind of long, but I'm also sort of drunk  If you guys have any advice, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks.

Haha. Kind of what I needed/expected to hear. Thanks

It's strange when you discover your brain, the thing you've been dealing with for 20+ years, isn't "normal." You start realzing all the anxieties, thought loops, whatever, that have become so entrenched in your life are not what you're "supposed" to be thinking. And that they have no power over you, and you don't have to follow them.

Like, when I made the post, I expected people to tell me it's normal. I was expecting reassurance. I think that's very telling.

unless you actually feel psychotic in your day to day life you have nothing to worry about. Lots of times when I'm laying down I will hear songs playing in my head, this isn't like getting a song stuck in your head type deal, this is hearing the actual song. And I've had it since I was a wee boy.

The first time I realized that I heard voices is when I heard my friends talking about me while I was inside of my truck with the doors closed. That's when I realized - don't worry, be happy.

senile people actually hear the same thing.its not unheard of for them to hear music or a song playing clear as day.

This is not OCD or schizophrenia. It is Sleep Paralysis. I can guarantee you almost 100%. I used to get the same exact thing except. In all variations as well noises, music, people talking.

Do the voices talk about completely random things?

First, thanks for the replies...

To clarify, I KNOW the voices are coming from inside my head, and it's normally like one word, or one phrase, and then I "snap back" to reality. There aren't really conversations taking place...

I will read up on sleep paralysis, but I'm starting to think I am just entering some sort of pre-dream like state. Last night I was kind of dreaming, "snapped back," and realized it's the same feeling when I hear the voices. Does that make sense? I'm thinking, again, that I'm just nitpicking.

I wasn't labeling myself as OCD based on this, but more on other shit. Like, I have a small "chip" in my front teeth, and would spend 10 minutes repeatedly looking in the mirror, all the while knowing it wasn't noticable but just having to "make sure." After reading about the abnormality of this, I can remember this sort of activity going on my whole life.

I know the drugs have affected me, both positively and negatively. Some loss of memory, which may of course be due to alcohol, but I'm inclined to think the insights, like when I experienced the first anxiety free moments of my life while on mushrooms, to be worth it. But hey, I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir.

If your having sleep paralysis it is usually caused by stress, or sleeping on your back, or going to sleep with sleep deprivation.

You'll be alright, lots of people hear voices and have musical hallucinations, I doubt many people could ever claim to have never heard a single voice or to have never had a song stuck in they're minds.

It sounds like sleep paralysis.

Schizophrenia will normally hit like a train and you won't be the same person when it stops at the next destination. You'll either be completely erratic, distressed, agitated, confused, have feelings of guilt, paranoid delusions, have hallucinations and/or feel totally drained, depressed, have poverty of speech.
