Beyond the obvious (no drugs and obey all laws) you have to report in to your P.O. at least once a month on average. Sometimes you just have to fill out a form every month too. Also, you'll probably be drug tested frequently.

it depends. it depends on what state you're in, what county is supervising you, who your probation officer is, what you're on probation for, and who you are.

what's pretty universal is that you must make monthly contact with your probation officer, consent to be searched or drug tested at any time, may not use illegal drugs (and sometimes alcohol), must pay fines, court costs, and supervision fees, and must obtain permission to change your residence or to visit outside the state.

every county does it a little differently and there are a lot of programs that people refer to as 'probation' even though they are not.

I say screw it. Probation only prolongs the inevitable unless you really decide to quit doing everything. In my opinion it is best to just do the time and move on with living your life under your control.

forego 5 different classes of drugs

OR

forego ALL drugs AND sex, wearing normal clothing, eating normal food, going to bed when you want, waking up when you want, attending school, getting paid, using the internet, using a computer, listening to music, etc. etc. etc.

I agree it sounds pretty simple and wouldn't recommend doing the time if ur ready to quit pushing the envelope. I'm just saying it's best to do it now than a year down the road starting it all over if you cant quit getting fucked up.

They are horrible as far as filling them up. I got 5 yrs for selling 10 gms. of herb. MO isn't the place to play look at any justice research about MO and it's prison pop. they may as well put a fence around MO

im with you, i would much rather have gone to jail for the 90 days then be on probation for 1 yr, it fucking sucked, and i ended up going for 30 days after 9 of probation anyways, for not telling my PO i got pulled over and got a speeding ticket she revoked my probation.

edit: forgot to say that my probation included a 500 dollar fine, 280 dollar court fees, 80 hrs community service, and a 80 dollar drug/alcohol classs......40 dollars a month when you check in, plus 12 dollars everytime they decide to drug test you

yeah probation isn't nothing but a prolonged bed space at one of americas thriving institutions. when you just up and go to jail it cost them money instead of you giving them money. the main thing is to tell your lawyer you will not accept a probation and as long as it is a misdemeanor from my experience you just end up with a hefty fine
