Has anyone besides the vendors, been able to get spore prints from the P.E. Strain?

From the pictures of what people are posting it doesn't look like one would be able to.

I think your best bet is to get a syringe of PE grow it and try to print it....

If someone does...they probably wont give it up........

i got a print of PE and only got one..hehe you already know the answer to that one :smile: LOL sorry..but its possible to print them just a little harder then suusal caps cause of the weird shape.. but they do open up to normals shapes..

if you can grow them just clone them. I belive this can be done with agar and a kife and just cut out some of the myc from the inside of the shroom and place on a agar plate with some sort of nutrant in the agar. I forget some thing like PDA or MEA or something. Then just let that grow and cut out pices of that like its pizza and place in a syringe or rye jar.

Well, i am trying to find a way to get prints from PE, to save in my spore collection.

Do what the vendors do and just keep on printing tell you can get a print. Changes are that they will drop so litle that you will need a microscope to verify that there are prints. Best way that i can think of is a glass petri dishes. that way it can stay sealed while you look at them under your microscope.

Here is the method which works most of the time. First, wait until the 3rd flush or later. Pick a nice looking mushroom that has dark gills. Timing is critical, if you see spores on the stem its probably too late for a good print. It takes a bit of luck or precognition to pick at the right time.

This is the secret part, shhhhhhh: twist and pull the stem out of the cap instead of slicing it off. This takes a bit of practice since the stem is tough and rough handling will crush the cap. If you cut off the stem instead of popping it out, the stump will block good spore fall. The stem has an odd swelling near the cap-stem junction. Print as you would any normal form of cubensis. Expect about a 20% success rate at getting relatively good prints. I'll post an example of what is considered a good PE print in a day or so.

You can see where I scraped off some of the spores for a breeding experiment where I crossed PE with the PF albino .
