12 hours for spores to "rehydrate"?!

Many people believe that after making a syringe, one should wait 12 hours for the spores to "rehydrate". To me it doesn't really make much sense. Doesn't most substrate contain water as well? So why do the spores have to rehydrate when they're going to sit in some nice moist substrate? I haven't really found a noticable difference from 12 hour syringes compared to 2 minute ones. Then again soon after i make spore prints i usually make syringes as well (Might have some barring on this subject) Any one elses preferences/observations/ect.?

I find no need whatsoever to let the spores 'rehydrate'. Once they are in the syringe, they are rehydrating and when injected into a jar, they are injected with water as well and their is water already in the cake, they will rehydrate just fine in the jar.

When making syringes from an older print, you might want to wait a short time after scraping spores into the water, jsut so that the larger chunks break up and dissipate more evenly.
