My EQ jars have been fully colonized for a while (a week or so) but they havn't started pinning, what can I do to start pinning so I can birth them already?

Ya can just give up on invitro pinning and let them pin in the terrarium, thats one solution. Otherwise, maybe cold shock for 12-24 hours in your fridge. Otherwise, its only been a week, give it more time. Peace

Will it affect them adversely if I cold shock and they don't need it?

it will slow growth for that period of time. just try to have a higher incubation temp by a few degrees.

Nope, it won't affect them adversely (minus a 12-24 hour period of stalled mycelium growth). Worst case scenario is it just doesn't have any effect. It won't hurt the jar(s). Peace

EQ's are a bitch to get to pin.. From what I've seen anyway, they usually take about a week or more once they're in the terrarium in cake form.. When cased it'll take a week and a day or two before it's ready for the terrarium and then another week or so for pins.. They're pretty damn slow, but they make up for it in yield. Of course, your experience may vary from what I've seen. If you have problems getting the cakes to pin in the terrarium try setting them directly on the perlite for 24 hours. That'll do the trick most of the time.. Good luck.
