The Mediocre Masses
    #5118039 -

I'm very "anti-social," people say. I do not feel the need to gossip, go clubbin', basically do mediocre filler. Nobody in my life is intellectually stimulating so I really do not pay attention to them.

I am the way I am basically, because I feel that the majority of people worship mediocrity due to lack of community and substance. Too much TV and not enough introspect, imo. And so I've been sitting here at my desk doing nothing but just reading and learning. But, I cannot help to feel unsatisfied.

Is there no-one out there who is truly relevant or will mediocrity always prevail? I'm inclined to think no, and that we are reaching singularity. A culminating point in which technology will help the masses overcome their mental slumber.

I'm just curious (for comparison purposes), what do you consider mediocre?

Is this a trot line? I feel insecure posting around here anymore, what with Icelander saying he finds complete enjoyment in 'Killing & catching fish'

I hope you are too.

People who can shoot the shit skillfully, make mediocrity interesting. It is a skill I secretly desire.

BTW, I rescind my rude statement. I didnt know what you were trying to say. In fact, I still dont, perhaps you could elaborate more?

Certainly seams like mediocrity is the target we have promoted, here.
Therefore I question your position on randomness:

Humans will never ever be able to reconstruct the beauty of the randomness, nor ever invent the fulfillment of it; which is why we need it.

The singularity of promoting mediocrity and loss of randomness; Correct?

I tend to agree that most human relating is on the mediocre level. I have no interest in it either. Small talk is not what I like although I can do it easy enough. When I had accumulated the awareness to cut through some of my bullshit and lying I found some amazing people who were glad to talk about real life with me. I am satisfied with them. The rest can bugger off if they need to.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

anything i see i seem to think mediocore (if its seen with my physical eyes that is)

if i see it in my mind i know its real, even if it is induced by a substance, its real from that p.o.v.

i just cant get over the fact that everything you see is just flipped around inside our heads, makes me wonder if something got lost in translation...

but truly, i was where you are now, i hated it all (not to say i dont still resent it all) but i seem to be finding my place more and more these days (and its getting more and more interesting as well)

It surely is quite a stretch to say that there are no intellectually stimulating people in your life. Sometimes intellectually stimulating people are not advertising for company. You must seek them out. Also to equate those with whom you share no interests with "mediocrity" is a bit naive and arrogant. My father, with whom I share no common interest, always seemed boring and intellectually unstimulating. While working with security and fire protection at a manufacturing facility, some construction workers showed me a waste water treatment facility that they said my father had designed, drawn up the blueprints for, and supervised the construction of some years before. It was immensely complex...to actually design such a thing seemed mind boggling to me. My father never even attended high school yet he had created a thing that required complex mathematics, and skills worthy of a mechanical engineer. I realized that my father was very intelligent, but instead of talking about books(he doesn't read), philosophy, technology, science, or other similarly high brow things; as a matter of fact he considers such topics boring and not worth discussion, he was obsessed with building. He can build anything it seems. He built the house that I now own and inhabit by himself. This required much thought and ability. I have a college education, but in comparison with this I am still a child. Reexamine what you consider mediocrity...there may be excellance within. Intellectual stimulation is totally subjective.
