Well The time has come, I've been reading this messageboard and such for about a year now off and on and i have finally brought myself to start cultivating mushrooms. Pleasure to meet you all =) I was considering ordering a growing 'kit' from an online source to get me started, does anyone have a suggestion of a place to visit where i could get something of the such? i have a few from my research but im interested in what you all have in mind. Or what type of shopping list should i make and run to the store with?

Yea after i did a refresh reading of the growing guides on this site last night i realized that was kind of a dumb post. I dont know i guess i normally end up overdoing things, or going for the best first. Just wanted to hear what you had to say on what to get. I have been trolling the boards, but since i wasnt an avid member yet it was just every now and then and with the frequency of posts on this page alot get pushed back fast. Im going to go do searches on the MB now to see if i can find what i need regarding some of my questions but heres two that i'll put here. What brand of Ultra Sonic Humidifier should i go with in the setup? and Would it be best to leave the cakes intact for the fruiting period because im a beginer, or would it yeild more fruit and be safe for me to break them up into trays with the topsoil method?

in the beginning i would go with the KISS method (Keep it simple, stupid) because it works, and that way you have more spores and you are not as screwed when you fuck up an experiment (and everyone fucks up when they are playing around, its just fun) anyways, PK tek/MMG and use perlite. I would personally go to home depot and buy one of the 24x48 grids used in flourecent fixtures, it costs like three bucks. and then cut that to fit over your perlite , which is also bought at homedepot for like 1.50 and use that for humidification, you can also use a fishtank pumpif you are too lazy to fan, but since you will probably be checking on your birthed cakes every few hours, you might as well fan. you could case half and fruit half as cakes, peace, ar393 oh i have never used an ultrasonic, my cat thinks its too much of a hassle, but i believe vicks is widely used. peace, ar393

one other thing, most online kits suck (DB being the exception really, i think most would agree with me on this) but I personally wouldnt wanna pay 150 dollars for it. anyways, but as a source for your syringe: ryche, sporeworks, sporechicks, etc are all good and reputable suppliers, i apologize for anyone i left out. peace, ar393
