What movies did you hate that everyone else liked?

I have yet to meet a person that didn't like Crash. I thought it was bad. Just too contrived.

What movies did you think sucked while everybody else was raving about it?

Some more of mine:

The Matrix
The Sixth Sense (Signs was even worse but not as well-liked)
Finding Nemo
Twelve Monkeys
The 25th Hour

On a related note, are there any movies that everyone else hated that you liked?

The Cable Guy is the only one I can think of. Good show.

Good topic.

I did not like Signs, but everyone else I knew loved it.

I love Transporter I but i dont hear anyone saying they hate it/love it.

Hunt for the Red October (my friend always makes me fucking watch this)
Lord of the Rings (any of them)
Any film made featuring comic book characters, bar none
Space Odyssey 2001 (I don't care if it's a classic, it's inaccessible and boring
Star Wars Episode Three (Everyone was all "hey this isn't that bad". It was terrible)

I'm sure there are loads more, but those stand out in my mind.

NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE. God, I hated that movie.

Anything with Will Farell in it. Even a cameo.

The Big Lebowski, I dont really hate this one but i didnt think it was as good as people make it out to be :shrug:

Yeah I considered putting that one on my list, but I don't really hate it. I have never been able to get through the whole thing. Yes it is inaccesible and boring.

Well, to be fair, I only hate it because I've seen it in a cinema more than once.

There are some parts of it I liked, and sitting through it once is bearable, you can appreciate the interesting bits, and just look at the pretty colours in the boring bits.

However, sitting through it the second time, you become totally unforgiving and begin to foster a bitter Kubrick hate.

I thought everyone hated 25th hour? (I quite like it)

But yeah, Donny Darko is very overrated in my opinion. It's an OK film, but not so amazing as everyone makes it out to be.

My personal stinkers:

I can't stand the Godfather trilogy, Scarface and Citizen Kane.
I guess I can't be bothered with morality tales about arrogant alpha males.

Harry Potter. Seriously, what is with 19, 20, even 21 year olds liking this shit?! They read the book, they see the movie, they are fucking obsessed and I wanna smack the shit out of them.

Thats certainly what happened to me! I just cant help but accuse him of being either too much the lazy fatass or too much the eccentric doofus to actually properly edit the film. The end result being many long sequences of nothing but slow motion and classical music. The docking sequences made me tear some of my own hair out.

He really captured the confusion and surreality of the final sequences though. A real saving grace.

(yes, I've read the book, 3 times. I'm quite a fan of Sir Arthur C. Clarke)

I really did not like the Lord of the Rings movies.

Garden State is a particular bugbear of mine - it's rubbish, even a deaf, dumb and blind kid (not neccessarily having to be able to play a mean pinball mind) would decree it crap.

I loved The Truman Show and a fair number of people I know hated it.

It helped it make sense that I knew the book, but it still drastically needed to be made better, and kubrick could have done better. He made mistakes that people are taught about in film school, simple mistakes.

I hated the film untl I caught it late one night dubbed in Italian. Without being able to follow the story it transformed itself into a beautiful series of moving pictures. If you want to really enjoy it, just watch it with the sound down and put on some trippy music instead... and don't watch the whole thing in one sitting with your undivided attention. It's way too long and boring that way.

I absolutely, positively fucking hated Titanic.....

I saw it in the theatre when I was pregnant....I went with two other pregnant girls and a drag queen.

When we left, I was the only one who wasn't crying.
