hmm ive had norton for some time.. he seems to do the trick.. just dont download that free shit from download.com and shit.. often times it includes attached spyware that fucks up ur computer even more

Google Trend Micro for a free one. We use it in our tech labs, so it has tto be pretty good.

seriously, no disrespect,....AVG, again, its totally free, not shareware type shit. Works better then anything from symantec, and doesn't chew up your system resources like norton does. I removed norton and switched to AVG, and never looked back.

Its free as long as you dont use it for a businesses network or PCs, in which case you will have to pay for a license.

It's not like those shitty limited pieces of software you d/l for free, this is the real deal. Oh, and its FREE.

If you're behind a router/firewall and don't open things you don't know what they are and keep your eyes peeled then your sweet.

But if you need some software i would agree and say AVG, i preferred their older version sofwtare to their newer stuff but hey.

yeah, i briefly checked their site, are you sure its free HELLA? Maybe i just need to dig around a bit more.

Avast 4 Home Edition is awesome. Free for personal use, it's better than AVG because the it has more advanced options, the free version of AVG is pretty limited. You get more control over on-access protection, log filtering, scheduling boot-time scans, doing selective scans, etc.

It's an awesome piece of software.

We use the liecenced version of AVG at work, switched from norton. It's simple straight forward and does just what you want it to.

Really their all more or less the same, your not going to geet caught out that much. AVG is free, simple and it works. That's all you really need but the payed for subscription ones can probably or at least should for the money, give you guarantees and aditional backup and support which can be handy if something goes horribly wrong.

I use Avast and am thuroughly impressed with it.

Both Norton and McAfee have become so bloated with useless junk they aren't worth it anymore. I wouldn't install either on my computer, even if they gave me free lifetime updates :rolleyes:
