Just downloaded some software using a torrent...Now what do i do?...

So i just downloaded some DJ mixing software...

The following files are what downloaded

/Alcatech BPM Studio Pro 4.9.1.nfo
/Alcatech BPM Studio Pro 4.9.1.sfv
/BPM Studio Pro 4.9.1.rar

...Anytime i click on the files with the extension (or what ever they're called) .sfv or .rar a box pops up saying the computer doesn't know what program to use to open them....


SO what do i do with these files?...How do i actually install the program?


I used to think i was computer savvy :shrug:, now i feel like a dummy  :confused:

you need to download winrar and extract the .rar file. this will give you the .exe directory you use to install the program.

I see people have already solved the problem...

But for future reference, if you download something and it has a file extension that does not open, search the internet for it, and you'll probably find your answer.

You have to download a .rar extractor now. I know, "another program?!" Yes, you have to get another program.

A quick and safe program called simply The Extractor (cool name right?) which can extract compressed .rar files.

You seem to know torrents well...I'm looking for a new anti-virus, my old one expired 2 months ago. I need a clean version of Norton Anti-Virus 2010 (with 3+ year subscription) with no Malware with it. I know those hackers like a good ironic joke, but my computer hates it! :mad2:

I'm just playin' Shroomie! I would totally hang out with you on your side. I just wish I could come to that gathering (outdoor rave?!) on the Northeast 2010, but I'm in the Pacific NW, and that's really far from here.

If I was rich and had my own plane, I would totally! Sadly, I don't have a plane or a licence to fly it, so that ain't gunna happen. Can you take photos and send it to me? Then I can photoshop myself into them, and it'll be just like I was there!

i also recommend 7zip over winrar for unzipping files, including .rar.  Its fully free, doesn't start bugging you about registration and purchase, and is much more lightweight.

my first advice actually would be to get an NFO view.  google damn NFO viewer to get it for free.  it's a small light program to view .nfo files.  9 time out of 10, the .nfo files included with torrents of software will include crack and installation instructions.
