Starting Opium Seeds
    #492830 -

I have a bunch of Opium seeds that I would like to start. I want to do it inside. I don't have HPS or MH lighting and don't plan on buying it. I tried putting some in my aquarium with the shrooms under it's florencant light but some kind of mold germinatied on the seeds.

what do you all recommend.

poppy seeds once stated can not be transplantsed very easily, i recomend getting a pot large enuff to grow them from seed to harvest. poppy seeds will sprout very quikly, if you plant them outside and let some of them drop there seeds they will growback the next year with a vengance. for indoor growth i recomend just putting them by a window dont bother using special lights as they will cost money.

go to the grocery store in the bulk section, look for poppy seeds. those seeds are papaver somniferum (opium poppy). dont waste your time spending money on some special order shit. when you can get a bag the size of a head for like $4.

now im confused. i read at a seed site that the giganthemums are supposd to be pretty potent. but then on the same site it said the Papaveraceae family doesn't contain any alkaloid content. the giganthemums are of the Papaveraceae family. what the fuck??

Papaveraceae is the family to which all "poppies" belong, including non-papaver species like the Californian poppy. Papaver is the genus to which the opium poppy belongs, species somniferum. "Giganthemum" is a sub-species of the opium poppy.

Isn't taxonomy fun?
