If there is to be a history kept of each user's rule violations

then there should be a set period of time when bad points will "roll off" your history, just like the points on driver's licences.

And is there a post that describes the graduation of penalties per "report"/infraction?
1. Warning
2. 12 hour ban
3. 24 hour ban
etc.

Yeah I'm in favor of having points expire in a year, for just $20/point. :smirk:

Seriously though I dunno, I predict repeat offenders will end up permabanned before point expiration ever comes into play. Maybe have "positive points" which mods can assign when users do something particularly helpful or noteworthy. That way people would have a chance to turn over a new leaf without us automatically assuming they had.
