At last you know what the ineffable is and what ecstasy means. Ecstasy! The mind harks back to the origin of that word. For the Greeks ekstasis meant the flight of the soul from the body. Can you find a better word than that to describe the beshroomed state? In common parlance, among the many who have not experienced ecstasy, ecstasy is fun, and I am frequently asked why I do not reach for mushrooms every night. But ecstasy is not fun. Your very soul is seized and shaken until it tingles. After all, who will chose to feel undiluted awe, or to float through that door yonder into the Divine presence? - 1961 Wasson Botanical Museum Leaflets, 19: 137.

Contact ryche. Maybe repausterizing the hell out of it would solve your problem. I'm not positive about this. Maybe someone else can give some input.

I am sure DB will replace it, but if you do not want that wait for the replacement pasturize it again.

It is really very simple just have to keep your temps right.

Get a pillow case (if you do not have a spare go to one of the 'marts,or goodwill etc...)

Get a deep pot of water (enough to hold your pillow case and compost) warm it up (because you have bugs) then cary it outside and open the bag and put it in your pillow case (OUTDOORS so you do not release those bugs indoors) then tie the pillow case shut, and submerge it into your pot of water.
Bring it back indoors and place back on stove top and heat the water slowly until it reaches 140 dgrees F and maintain that temp for1 /2 hours then hang your pillow case up outdors overnight. The next day go grab it and wring any excess water out of them compost and go to work.

pasturization will do the trick but i wouldnt dunk it in water,
you dont want to leach out the goodies in the "compost"
you can put it in the oven at about 160deg for an hour our two
or you can steam it at the same temps, i do this to my casings in either Qt or 1/2 gallon jars.....dont put it in water though
one thing to think about is all those bug carcasses(i dont know how many) but you may have contam probs if your compost is teeming with the little bastards, maybe lay it outside spread out on something, may be most of them will take off, then pasturize
much luck amigo

That is what I do. Oven for two hours. That way you don't mess too much with the moiture content too. It is easier to add moisture if you need too. I left mine in the bags, but since you have bugs in the bag you'll want to take it out.

That one is entirely up to you.
Personally I would just re-pasturize it. Either of the below methods will work fine. If you do use the water method be sure and squeeze out excess water before using. More detailed instruction on this pillow case method is on my site under the panaeolus section.
If you do the oven method, you may need to give it a real heavy misting to put back some of the water loss.
Pesonally I would repasturize it with water. This compost is so full of benefical nutriants you wont lose much by this method. I've done it many times myself from leaving it sit around for many months.

Or, you can always write DB a letter to get the 5lbs replaced but that will take longer. If you do that be sure and include your name/addy kit # etc...
