My progress so far...and Pressure Cooker 4 SALE!
    #487704 - 12/11/01 05:15 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

I just thought I'd give a brief update of the progress so far. One week ago today: Innoculated 24 half pint jars and 12 one pint jars. They all show excellent growth and none show any signs of contamination. I plan on using old timers straw tek when they get fully colonized.

I'm going to sterilize straw at 165 degrees for 1hr 15mins. Then I will lay 4-5 inches out in the bottom of a big rubbermaid tub. Then I will crumble about 5 or 6 half pint cakes up and mix it into the straw thoroughly. I will let run through then case with moist potting soil plus. I am not going to sterilize the casing at all. This is what has been recommended to me to do. I hope this sounds right to everybody. I will gladly accept any criticism of my plan. I just really want to make sure I do this right. Please help me with your comments.. thanks a million!

BTW...I have a pressure cooker for sale. It's a Mirro. It holds 5 half pints or 5 one pint jars at a time. It's really nice...like new actually. The little regulator on the top makes reaching and holding pressure at 15 psi a breeze. It also comes with the metal insert that holds the jars off the bottom. The first person to PM me willing to pay 40 dollars for it can have it. I will pay S&H. If you PM me and I dont respond within 24 hours, it means I've already sold it. This should save me from having to send out 50 "Sorry, I've already sold it" messages.

Thanks for your time and take care,

bassplayer74
