Recommend a timer???
    #4865423 -

Hey I just got a "martha" set up and neglected to get a timer. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on what timer specifically would be a good choice. It seems I always go and get things that seem right when I am there, but then I get them home and they just aren't what I needed. Maybe you guys could save me a trip or to returning things.

Anyone who says size doesn't matter has been seeing too many small shrooms!

What the hell are you talking about. Martha?????????????
Just make some shrooms. Ive heard of people spending 1000 dollars on supplies. If youve got jars and a spore syringe And p.-brf, find a bucket, a heat pad, and something to cover the top like syran wrap.
Timers are pretty silly. Honestly....
Growers tend to think what they are taking part in is brain-surgery

You should drop the attitude, stemmer. A Martha setup is a common knowledge term, and anyone spending 1000 is a moron, you could have 3 of everything for that. And heat pads are never to be used in cultivation unelss a reptile or seedling heat mat that can be temp controlled. A heating pad poses a fire risk, will overdry and stall jars, and will cause too much heat. What growers are taking part in is cultivation of a fungi in an environment that must mimic nature as close as possible while having improvements. Mycology is a scientific field, and can be just as hard and challenging as a surgeon's job, if not moreso harder.

Timers are silly? You do realize an ultrasonic will put down 5 inches of water in the tub a day without a timer, don't you? Any casings and most cakes will be ruined at 24/7. They'll turn into mash.

I recommend a Menards special for $18.00, Intermatic DT-17 7 day digital 15 minute increment programable. Always get a 15 minute no matter what brand. The digital features are nice to have, too.

I once owned pet lizards and I didnt really worry about them burning to death, nor my own house. I dont think your comparison of yourself to a surgeon is relavent at all. In fact, thats pretty dumb.
You have to be really stupid to mess up growing. You have to be a brain sugeon to mess up brain surgery.
Surgery takes more tact. Shroom growth takes A complete moron.
Sorry dude, this is true

Some use no temp mods., no humidifacation mods, and have more success just by avoiding bad teks
Shroom growing is a joke once you involve any technical devises

If you cant tell time, you cant grow shrooms without a timer.
Some peope may not have the time, but this shit is once per day.
Act accordingly to pins and shroom growth, and read up. This way youll not have to deal with being way to out of hand with your grow techniques. That shit costs money, growing shrooms really doesnt though.

I think you've never done a grow before and are talking behind a keyboard. Next play-time "mycologist" in row, please.

Many many O's and more. Sold most of them, and we tripped balls as often as we wanted and used only two large buckets, no caseing. We employed the myc.-water technique again and again. A heat pad for fruits, and a fish tank heater for the cakes.

Two buckets, one heat pad, A fishtank heater for the cakes(though it wasnt really needed, just faster colonization).
Heat under bucket, cakes + wet paper towels. Great cakes, healthy, but what do you think about that.

Don't Liston to this person. Timers are excellent for automating your set up only a fool would make his schedule revolve around being home at certain time to unplug something to save a few bucks on a timer. Especially when they are selling ounces like hot cakes. Growing shrooms dosent cost money? Grain is free? Peat is free? Verm is free? Electricity is free?

I unplugged nothing and Even if you were onto something does a fool only make it home in time??.... I waivered air into the container when I could. Very little light is needed, a heating pad is much like the common light bulb(it costs little). Paper towels too. If you have not tried this tek, then your useing something that costs more money. Years ago I found this method on the net by the same guy who founded the Brf+vermic. method. Not one problem, not one bad batch.
Who told you you have to unplug anything. You guys have some skewed views, as if shrooms only grow in a vacuum. One thats costs significant cash beyond the price of the spores. Read up for your own sake. By the way Im talking cakes by themselves, no funky caseing method.

I forgot the jars which cost less than the fishtank heater, but I "we" already had 1/2 pinters around.

I use "timers". As my F/C is almost 100% automated.

Lights on/off 12/12
Coolmist 1 hour on, 1 off - 24/7
Ultrasonic humidifier 5 minutes on, each hour the coolmist runs.

It can go 4 or 5 days without attention.
Then - only needs water added to the external resorviors.

Matter of fact, once left town & had to stay longer than expected.

Came back to find almost over-mature fruits.
Tell me - timers don't help.

Any questions as to why This method grows cakes like mad. Have I left something out.
Is musher420 going to chide anything specific, or is he just convinced that it takes equipment to grow shrooms.
